Putting an end to months of speculation about who would be the premiere artist signed to Tag Records, the New York-based venture led by hip-hop entrepreneur Jermaine Dupri, Island Def Jam Music Group and global giant Procter & Gamble (P&G), it was announced today that Brooklyn’s own “Q” will be the first young rapper to be launched on the new label. In conjunction with P&G’s leverage of TAG Records as part of its re-introduction of TAG this summer, Q will be on the receiving end of one of the biggest promotional campaigns ever devised, including television, print, radio, digital and event marketing. This unprecedented launch is a cornerstone of TAG’s initiative to cultivate relationships with the urban community through development of programs that provide opportunities for aspiring hip-hop talent. P&G will showcase Q and Dupri across TAG’s various advertising and marketing initiatives throughout 2008. Q (aka Kareem Savage) was a former member of Da Franchise with fellow Brooklynites Red Café and Gravy. Q started his solo career as a contributor to mix-tapes by DJ Clue, Kay Slay, DJ Khaled and others. TEDxRainier – Rob Harmon – Blue is the New Green: Water Footprints

Taking the true measure of our environmental footprint is something that Rob Harmon has been doing for years. Starting as an energy auditor in Massachusetts, Harmon went on to manage an international marketing effort in the wind energy industry and, in 2000, develop and launch the first carbon calculator on the Internet. Harmon joined Bonneville Environmental Foundation (BEF) in 1999, and is credited with developing their Green Tag program. In 2004, Rob was awarded the national Green Power Pioneer Award for his introduction of the retail Green Tag (Renewable Energy Certificates) and his ongoing efforts to build a thriving and credible Green Tag market in the United States. Rob also conceptualized and directed the development of BEF’s national Solar 4R Schools program. His latest venture is the creation of BEF’s Water Restoration Certificate business line, which utilizes voluntary markets to restore critically de-watered ecosystems. He has published various articles, and recently contributed chapters to the book Voluntary Carbon Markets: A Business Guide to What They Are and How They Work. THE FANIA ALL-STARS BIOGRAPHY The Fania All Stars, the house band of Fania Records, comprising of the label’s bandleaders, top sidemen and vocalists, and whose history represented the rise and promulgation of salsa as a marketing tag for Latin music, had their relatively humble beginnings at the Red Garter club in New York’s Greenwich Village in 1968. The band’s Monday night performance with invited guests in front of an audience of 800 people was recorded and issued as Live At The Red Garter Vols. 1 & 2.
